The workshop will give you the chance to explore the world of acid dyes, experimenting with various application methods eventually painting directly onto the screen to achieve that signature ‘watercolour’ print quality in your finished scarf.
We’ll begin with an introduction to FWS and their practice before moving on to a lesson in various mono printing and painting techniques taking inspiration from a rich selection of fresh flowers and plant forms.
You’ll then hand paint your mixed dyes onto silhouettes of flowers and foliage exposed onto a screen and print the finished piece directly onto your silk scarf. The final part of the workshop is a demo of the dyeing, steaming and washing process after which you’ll be invited to grab some lunch and explore the Green Rooms Market on the top floor of Peckham Levels.
When you return from your break your scarf will be ready for collection and wear! The workshop will run from 10.00am – 2.30pm
