Upcycle Clothing Through Silk Screen Printing with Mona Cordes | 11th September 2022
Mona Cordes is a German, London based Fashion Print designer. Cordes graduated from her Masters from Kingston School of Art in 2020. Her work embodies the physical expressions of multi-colored kaleidoscopic visions. With the help of statements and boldness through graphics and choice of themes, she is voicing political and ecological messages. Her brand is working towards a social sustainable business model, locally produced in London by only herself.
Mona Cordes offers sustainable high end garments, for any gender and calls for community coherence and her work thrives through storytelling using themes of obscurity and rebellion. Mona works freelance with 3rd rail and doing other printing and seam-stressing work.
Mona Cordes is leading this Silk-Screen Printing workshop and will show you how unused and unloved garments can be turned into your favourite piece in your wardrobe.
The day will start with a small introduction about her brand, how she works and how she’s been running the brand since starting after university and followed by a description into silk screen printing. Mona will also have a selection of garments with her from her recent collection ‘CELLUSION’ launched in February with London Fashion Week.
Mona will provide 4 different screens with her signature prints like her demons / trolls or the devil hearts or from her recent collection ‘CELLUSION’. Work-shoppers can then print their chosen garment! You will be shown how to mix up your colour and can choose a colour that you like. There will be groups for each silk screen design. If there is time we will be able to add another colour for your print. You will also be shown options for pigments and binders and how they can work on different kind of garments. You will be taking care of washing screens and drying process and shown little tips and tricks for printing ~ we will finally fix your personal garment and get some pictures of the print crew in your new pieces!
You will leave the workshop with the knowledge of garment up-cycling through silk screen printing.
The workshop is suitable for anyone, you don’t need to have printed ever before, anyone can do it and learn so much in just one day.
